Acupuncture: benefits, but not against depression

By Emag Aya on 18:13

Acupuncture is an alternative medicine increasingly recognized and used in many areas. But it should still not be considered a panacea. Moreover, a study has proved that acupuncture does not work against depression .
Acupuncture is not effective against depression

This recent study by the Cochrane Collaboration looked over thirty studies on acupuncture and depression. The aim was to compare general acupuncture medication. The results are not very encouraging for proponents of needles: Given the many studies were of poor quality or biased evidence scientfiiques indicate that acupuncture is not effective against depression. A study showed that people treated by medication and acupuncture had a better outcome than those treated only with drugs, but it will not convince those who are seeking alternatives to antidepressants.

What solutions against mild depression?

If acupuncture has not proven that he remains outside medicine, to defend against depression? Both solutions have proven scientifiquemenet and are easy to implement:

Regular physical activity has been shown repeatedly to be effective against depression. So if you're depressed, put on your shoes, or your dancing shoes or your rolllers ... All sports are good, as you move!

St. John's wort has also shown its effectiveness against depression to some extent, and it is easy to find. However, be careful your doctor if you think to take it, because it can affect your other medical treatments and contraceptives.
